Summary

  • Google has made it easier to share NotebookLM notebooks with new public links.
  • Notebook share interface resembles those from Google Drive, Docs.
  • Public link viewers can’t edit, but can ask questions and access Audio Overviews.

Google’s making it easier to share NotebookLM notebooks publicly. As announced in a post on Google’s Keyword blog, you can now share notebooks from NotebookLM using just a link, through an interface that looks a lot like the one we’ve gotten used to in products like Google Docs and Google Drive.

With today’s change, it’s now possible to share notebooks from NotebookLM with anyone by generating a public link. Now, you can click the Share button in the top right corner of a notebook to access a share menu that looks very much like the one in Google’s other productivity apps. From there, you can get a link to your notebook, and choose whether that link is accessible to users you specify or to anyone who has the link.

The ability to generate public links simplifies sharing NotebookLM notebooks. Google lists “your nonprofit’s projects, product manuals for your business or study guides for your class” as notebooks you might want to share public links to. Viewers of public links won’t be able to edit your notebook, but they will be able to ask Gemini questions about its content and access any existing Audio Overviews.

It’s been a big few weeks for NotebookLM

Google’s been on a bit of a spree with NotebookLM lately. In mid-May, Google released a dedicated NotebookLM app on the Play Store. Days later, Google announced an update to NotebookLM that speeds up Chat box responses by up to 40 percent.
