In 2024, Google confirmed that any reminders created in the Keep app would soon appear in Tasks. At the time, however, this was a general PSA, with no strict timeline shared.
Fast-forward to July this year, and that ambiguity went away. Google confirmed that the Keep-to-Tasks migration will happen in the second half of 2025.
We’re in the second half of 2025, and Google has now provided more definitive details for the Keep-to-Tasks unification.
According to the tech giant, “whether you’re saving something from Keep, Gmail, Calendar, Chat, Docs, or Gemini, Google Tasks will make sure it’s up to date and accessible across the Workspace products you use,” and it will do so starting today.
It’s worth noting that this doesn’t mean you’ll lose reminder functionality in the Keep app. Instead, the change will only make it so that any reminders you create in the Keep app will automatically be saved to Tasks. Because of that, said reminders will also appear as tasks in Calendar and via the Gemini app through the Tasks extension.
Expect the rollout to drag into November
The migration completes the final piece of the puzzle, essentially completing the vision that started with Google Calendar and Assistant migrations. Going forward, tapping the bell icon on a Keep note will explicitly highlight that “Your reminders are saved in Google Tasks,” as seen in the short GIF above.
Further, according to Google, the migration is taking place now, and will take roughly 15+ days to be visible, so expect widespread availability around the first week of November. Also worth noting is that there is no setting to trigger the migration. The feature will be on by default for all Google Workspace, Workspace Individual, and personal Google account holders with Tasks and Keep installed.
