Google wants to make your Pixel’s broken screen, battery damage, and loss/theft coverage a worry of the past.

Up until now, Pixel users have enjoyed the Preferred Care program for all their device protection needs. In the US, though, the tech giant is now upgrading the program and renaming it to Pixel Care+.

Announced in a new blog post earlier today, the tech giant said that Pixel Care+ is a “flagship device protection program” that offers a “higher level of coverage, service and peace of mind for Google hardware owners.”

At a monthly or 2-year coverage fee, the plan gives users:

  • Unlimited claims for accidental damage, extended warranty claims, and mechanical damage.
  • $0 screen repairs (front screen and back glass of Pixel phones only).
  • $0 battery replacement/repairs (battery must have less than 80 percent health).
  • Genuine Google parts and replacements.
  • Priority Support from Pixel Experts.
  • Self-service claims through the Google Store website.
  • Optional added loss and theft coverage (at an additional cost).

More importantly, though, the program includes no service fees and deductibles ($0) for cracked front screen and back glass repairs, battery replacement, and some post-warranty malfunction issues. With Preferred Care, on the other hand, you had to pay a deductible for those same repairs. Google’s Pixel Care+ is offered in partnership with Asurion.

Pixel Care+ is available now exclusively in the US. Insurance can be added within 60 days of purchase, regardless of where you bought your device. Check out the list of eligible devices below.

It’s worth noting that these prices are slightly higher than what you would have originally paid with Preferred Care. However, the added benefits do offset the increased pricing.

If you’re purchasing a Pixel device from the Google Store, you can add Pixel Care+ directly during checkout. Devices purchased from third-party retailers can be enrolled via the Google Store or the My Pixel app within 60 days of purchase. The tech giant added that “current monthly subscribers of Google Preferred Care and Fi Device Protection in the U.S. will be migrated to the new program in the coming months.”
