Back in 2022, Google introduced a standalone Weather app for Wear OS 3 watches alongside the first Pixel Watch. It offered hourly and weekly forecasts, daily highs and lows, UV index details, precipitation information, and tiles/complications for quick access. Now, Google is apparently rolling out a dedicated Pixel Weather app for the Pixel Watch lineup, bringing a more feature-rich experience.
9to5Google reports that the new Pixel Weather app for Wear OS keeps the familiar layout but refreshes it with Material 3 Expressive’s design. The icon is still the classic yellow sun on a blue background, while the city view now features a bold pill-shaped card, just like the updated mobile app, showing current conditions, an icon, temperature, and highs/lows.
The “Feels like” temperature gets prime placement, because that’s what actually matters when you’re stepping outside. The design is cleaner and feels built for someone who’s on the move. This new version adds a detailed hourly forecast, and watch face complications remain fully supported.
Expressive tiles designed for quick glance information
Furthermore, the app now features Material 3 Expressive Tiles, with the main tile split into three clear sections for temperature, daily highs and lows, and precipitation chances. Location information sits at the top, while current conditions are shown at the bottom for quick readability. Like the existing Weather app, you’ll also get updated tiles for sunrise and sunset times, plus UV index details, all in the refreshed design.
While it’s expected to drop with the Pixel Watch 4 rollout in October, there are already screenshots floating around on the Play Store, so maybe we’ll see it land on current Pixel Watches sooner than we think.
