Samsung was quite far behind other Android OEMs in rolling out Android 15-based One UI 7 for its devices, but the company seems to be speeding things up for Android 16’s launch. Within the past month, Samsung has rolled out not one, but two One UI 8 betas (based on Android 16) for its flagship Galaxy S25 series, and now another beta is joining the fray.
Samsung Galaxy Unpacked
Samsung will unveil its next generation of foldables and smartwatches on July 9th at 10 am ET in New York. Right now, you can reserve a Galaxy Z Flip or Fold 7 to get a $50 Samsung credit — which you can use on official accessories if you do end up buying one of the foldables — earn triple reward points, and also enter a $5,000 sweepstakes.
Samsung today released the third One UI 8 beta update for Galaxy S25 devices in the UK and Germany (via Tarun Vats on X). The update hasn’t reached the US yet, but based on past rollouts, it’s likely to arrive soon. The new beta build is about 3.6GB or 1.2GB in size depending on your current build and comes with the build number S938BXXU4ZYFA/S938BOXM4ZYFA/S938BXXU4BYFA based on the region.
The Galaxy S25 One UI 8 testers in India and Poland have also received the same update, but it’s the second beta for those regions since they joined the testing cycle later than the UK, Germany, and US. If you own a Galaxy S25 in one of these regions and are enrolled in the One UI 8 beta, you can download the latest build by going to Settings > Software update > Download and install.
The latest One UI 8 beta focuses on even more bug fixes
As for what’s new in this update, Samsung hasn’t added any new features. The company seems focused on fixing bugs in the One UI 8 beta builds. Issues with Secure Folder, swipe typing, and many more have been addressed. Here is the official changelog of the new beta:
- Fixed the overlap issue between the status bar of the Recents app and the running app menu in specific status of NaviStar.
- Fixed the issue that the keyboard input occur only when reboots on the Security folder PIN input screen.
- Improved the issue that intermittently lengthen loading time when entering Mode/Routine menu.
- Fixed text input (swipe to type) error using gesture on keyboard screen.
- Fixed text input (S Pen to text) error with S Pen.
- Added back screen preview to Laboratory.
- SW stabilization through updates to many apps.
- Many other improvements.
The update also comes on the same day that Samsung started testing the One UI 8 Watch beta software update for the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra smartwatches. It seems like Samsung is ramping up testing of both the updates as we get closer to the launch of the new Galaxy foldables next month.
While Samsung hasn’t confirmed when the One UI 8 or One UI 8 Watch updates will roll out for stable users, considering the increased testing pace and recent bug fixes, the update could arrive any day. We expect it to begin rolling out after the new Galaxy foldables launch on July 9.
