The quarter has only started, and it has already been a great one for foldable enthusiasts. Samsung’s latest Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 are capable devices that will hit store shelves later this week, though if you’re not in a hurry, you might want to hold off on buying one right when it goes on sale.
Google’s upcoming hardware event is scheduled to take place in less than a month from now — on Wednesday, August 20th, to be specific, and the new Pixel 10 Pro Fold is sure to grace the big stage. Now, thanks to an early leak, we have a better idea of what the upcoming foldable will look like, which might (or might not) give you a compelling reason to wait and see what Google is bringing to the table.

From what we already know, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold is expected to outshine the Galaxy Z Fold 7 in two key areas. Google’s upcoming foldable is reported to boast a 5,015mAh battery, which is considerably larger than the Z Fold 7’s 4,400mAh cell. That, paired with the Tensor G5’s reported efficiency, could make the Pixel 10 Pro Fold a battery beast.
Elsewhere, it’s a known fact that foldables are more susceptible to dust and water damage when compared to slab phones. This is primarily because foldables sport more moving parts and exposed areas (hinge) that are easy points of failure. Samsung took on the challenge of making its foldables more durable by introducing IP48 dust and water resistance on the Z Fold 6 (up from IPX8 water resistance on the Z Fold 5), though that spec hasn’t improved with the new Z Fold 7.
Google, on the other hand, has reportedly made the Pixel 10 Pro Fold IP68 dust and water-resistant, which should definitely make users feel more comfortable about taking their shiny new device to the beach or using it during light rain when out and about.
New color, who dis?
Design-wise, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold isn’t really the refresh users had been hoping for. It’ll feature a slightly bigger 6.4-inch cover display, though that isn’t really apparent in these renders shared by Android Headlines. The same goes for the screen’s brightness, which is going up to 3,000 nits (from 2,700 nits).
From the back, the upcoming foldable will retain its predecessor’s appearance, with the most striking change being the colorways offered.
Google is reportedly getting rid of the classic Obsidian and Porcelain colorways and opting for fun alternatives like Moonstone and Jade (in that order in the image above). These are the same colors Google is going with for the Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL.
The Pixel 10 Pro Fold will be unveiled next month, and we’re hoping to learn more about the device with more comprehensive leaks potentially showing the device from the front in the days ahead.
