We’ve been reporting about the EverPwnage jailbreak by LukeZGD for certain firmware running on certain 32-bit devices since it first debuted back in December of 2024, and despite being developed for what many would consider outdated devices by today’s standards, the developer continues to push improvements to EverPwnage by way of updates.
At the end of December, EverPwnage version 1.1 launched, bringing an untether to all 32-bit iOS 8.0-9.0.2 devices, but just this weekend, EverPwnage has received another significant update, this time bringing the jailbreak up to version 1.2 with the following improvements:
– Added support for iOS 9.1-9.3.4. EverPwnage’s support range has been updated to iOS 8.0-9.3.4
– Updated sock_port_2_legacy for improved success rates (and possibly future iOS 7 support)
– Stashing is now disabled by default on untethered jailbreaks, just to be safe (users can enable it manually by deleting/.cydia_no_stash
)
The latest update brings support for new firmware and device combinations, namely 32-bit devices running iOS 9.1-9.3.4 and updates the sock_port_2_legacy exploit to not only improve its success rate but also to open the door for potential iOS 7 support in the future.
LukeZGD also made available a new fork of JailbreakMe 4.0, a convenient web-based jailbreak utility, which can now jailbreak 32-bit iOS 9.1-9.3.4 devices using EverUntether instead of UntetherHomeDepot – a different and presumably better untether.
Those wanting to learn more about either of these projects can head over to their respective GitHub repository pages:
While these devices are often considered long forgotten because of just how old they are, true device tinkerers who hold onto their old devices and value continued development on jailbreaks and untethers will appreciate these updates.
