Anyone who uses the Dopamine rootless jailbreak for iOS & iPadOS 15 or 16 may want to know that there’s a new and important update to the tool as of late last night.
Project lead developer Lars Fröder (@opa334dev) announced the release of Dopamine v2.0.10 by way of a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), and from what we can gather, it introduces the following changes:
– Fix jailbreaking not working when Developer mode was disabled (Developer Mode will now be enabled in a non-persistent way for the current boot)
– Fix NECP connections failing after some time on arm64 (Apple Watch, VPN…)
– Fixterminusd
crashes on arm64, reenable injection into it andnsessionmanager
– Automatically fix wrong permissions for/private
and/private/preboot
when jailbreaking
– Fix app icons disappearing or no longer opening on OTA updates (Will only be fixed for future updates, not for the one to 2.0.10, also requires TrollStore 2.0.13)
In the post, Fröder said that all known arm64 issues should now be resolved and that users shouldn’t need to enable Developer Mode to use the jailbreak anymore:
For those unaware, arm64 devices are the older variety of devices sporting A8-A11 chips inside. These devices are also susceptible to the checkm8 exploit and can be jailbroken with palera1n as well.
If you’re an existing Dopamine jailbreak user, then you can update using the in-app over-the-air (OTA) updating mechanism or you can manually download the latest version and run it over your existing installation. A userspace reboot will be required to update the jailbreak environment.
If you’ve never used Dopamine before, then you will want to download the latest version from the start to ensure that you have the smoothest experience from the beginning. You can acquire the latest build from the project’s GitHub page.
The Dopamine jailbreak supports the following device and firmware combinations:
Note that as a semi-untethered jailbreak, you don’t need a computer to re-jailbreak with Dopamine after a reboot. It’s also worth noting that you can perma-sign the jailbreak app with TrollStore, which is beneficial over sideloading because you don’t need to re-sign the app every seven days.
