Dopamine jailbreak lead developer Lars Fröder (@opa334dev) took to X (formerly Twitter) early Friday morning to share an important public service announcement regarding ElleKit — the tweak injection method used by his jailbreak.
While ElleKit is the trusted tweak injection method used by the Dopamine jailbreak, it seems that there’s a suspicious build of ElleKit floating around dubbed version 1.1.2-1, and it’s causing problems for some jailbreakers who’ve installed it.
According to the post, ElleKit v1.1.2-1 isn’t a real build of ElleKit. Instead, it’s a “poorly repackaged version of a recent testing build shared by @eveiyneee that is being distributed by a piracy repo.”
The impact? According to Fröder, this unofficial build of ElleKit is causing restoring loops and other issues with those who’ve installed it. The exact reason for the restoring loops is unclear at this time, but it’s not happening with official builds of ElleKit.
Because of the dangers of installing unofficial builds of important dependencies like ElleKit, it’s advisable that jailbreakers refrain from installing non-official builds from third-party repositories. More importantly, jailbreakers should avoid piracy repositories altogether.
The one and only official repository that jailbreakers should be downloading any build of ElleKit from is:
http://ellekit.space
Downloading ElleKit from any other source is sketchy, and may put your device at risk of instability. You have been warned.
