DNDBadges makes notification badges purple when Do Not Disturb mode is turned on

Do Not Disturb mode is an indispensable feature on iPhones and iPads that I’ve grown particularly fond of over the years. Although it isn’t new, I still use it just as much today as I did when it first came out.

There’s just one problem — it’s can be all too easy to forget that you turned Do Not Disturb mode on in the first place, which sometimes results in missed notifications that you otherwise didn’t intend to silence.

Given the circumstances described above, I was particularly excited about the release of a new and free jailbreak tweak called DNDBadges by iOS developer Ichitaso, as it can help users mitigate (if not completely eliminate) instances like the aforementioned from happening to you.

So how does it work? Just as the name implies, DNDBagdes turns your Home Screen apps’ notification badges purple when Do Not Disturb mode is turned on, as depicted in the screenshot example above.

This is brilliant because if you’ve forgotten that Do Not Disturb mode was turned on, then the mere glance of purple notification badges in your Home Screen should provide enough of a hint that it’s still turned on.

When you toggle Do Not Disturb mode off, the notification badges return to their original red color with no ifs, ands, or buts about it.

DNDBadges doesn’t come with any options to configure, and so what you see above is ultimately what you get. Given the simplicity of the tweak, I’d argue that it doesn’t need any options to configure; however I can see some users potentially wanting to choose their preferred badge color instead of defaulting to a color-matched purple. Unfortunately, this isn’t possible at this time.

Those who might be interested in giving DNDBadges a try can download the tweak for free from ichitaso’s repository via their favorite package manager. The tweak supports jailbroken iOS 13 and 14 devices.

If you’re not already using ichitiaso’s repository, then you can add it to your package manager of choice using the following URL:

Do you have any plans to upgrade the Do Not Disturb experience on your jailbroken iPhone or iPad with the new DNDBadges tweak? We’d love to hear why or why not in the comments section down below.
