Customize the look and feel of your Settings app with Horizon

One of the great things about having a jailbroken iPhone or iPad is having the ability to customize the appearance of nearly any interface element. Fortunately, there’s no shortage of jailbreak tweaks that can help you do this.

If you’re just refreshing your Cydia or Sileo sources for the first time this week, then you might have noticed a particularly interesting new release under the Changes tab called Horizon by iOS developer Sirius24. This tweak effectively lets you customize the native Settings application however you want.

The screenshot examples posted above and below depict the wide variety of interface elements that can be customized with Horizon. You’ll notice that the tweak colorizes various things such as the background, headers, and even the containing text strings.

These examples may not look the best, but they certainly communicate just how much you can change with Horizon. Being that I lack a single artistic bone in my entire body, I’ll leave it to the artistic fellows out there to come up with the best look and feel for their own use cases, especially if using a theme in tandem with Horizon for a more complete user experience.

After you’ve installed Horizon, you’ll find a dedicated preference pane in the Settings app where you can configure things to your liking:

Here, you can:

  • Toggle Horizon on or off on demand
  • Enable or disable preset color schemes
    • Choose from the preset list
  • Colorize the Settings app on your own:
    • Choose a custom navigation bar background color
    • Choose a custom background color
    • Choose a custom cell background color
    • Choose a custom cell text color
    • Choose a custom cell detail text color
    • Choose a custom selected tint color
    • Choose a custom selected text color
  • Enable or disable using an image for a background
    • Choose a background image from your Photo Library
  • Enable or disable indented cells
    • Configure how much indentation cells will have
  • Enable or disable hidden icons in the Settings app
    • Configure a custom corner radius for cells
  • Enable or disable lightened navigation bar
  • Configure a custom separator color
  • Hide the table separator

The developer includes a blue Apply button at the top right of the preference pane so that you can save changes on demand.

Color and theme customization aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, but if you’re into this sort of thing, then Horizon is a great tweak to check out. It’s available for free from sirius247’s repository and it plays nicely with jailbroken iOS 11, 12, 13, and 14 devices.

If you’re not already using sirius247’s repository, then you can add it to your package manager app of choice by using the URL provided below:

Will you be installing Horizon? Discuss why or why not in the comments section below.
