The palera1n checkm8 bootrom exploit-based rootless semi-tethered jailbreak tool for arm64 (A8-A11) devices running iOS & iPadOS 15.0-17.x received a rare update late last night, officially bringing the project up to version 2.0.0 beta 9.
This update, which is the first since October of last year, is cited as being a “quick hot fix” update per the official palera1n X (formerly Twitter) account, and provides the following changes:

– Apply
thid_should_crash=0
automatically for iOS 17.0+, which fixes App Store apps crashing in certain cases
– Improved initproc handling
– Added functionality to download packages within the online configurationLoader / Helper
– Improved logic for receiving the online configuration if you’re on a version that is higher than it can provide
– If you’re on a lower version, for example iOS 14 (17XX) it will reject and not let you continue
– Added functionality to download packages within the online configuration

If you’re an existing palera1n user, then it’s recommended that you upgrade to the latest release at your earliest convenience as to take advantage of the latest bug fixes and improvements.
Existing palera1n users can simply acquire the latest version from the project’s GitHub page and re-run it over their existing installation to have the latest jailbreak environment and improvements.
But if you’re not an existing user, then you should start by using the latest release from the project’s GitHub page and then follow the steps outlined in our step-by-step tutorial to jailbreak with palera1n.
It’s worth noting that firmware versions including iOS & iPadOS 15.0-16.6.1 also have the option of using Dopamine v2, which is a semi-untethered jailbreak by comparison, so it doesn’t require a computer to use. It’d also perma-signable via the TrollStore app. The palera1n jailbreak’s primary advantage is that it supports firmware newer than iOS & iPadOS 16.6.1 on arm64 devices.
