If you frequently poke around in your iPhone’s native Phone app and only to find that you’ve accidentally tapped on a name or number and started a phone call, then this new and free jailbreak tweak might be for you.
Dubbed CallMeMaybe by iOS developer Dayanch96, this tweak adds confirmation pop-ups to the Phone app for when you tap on names and numbers in the app to ensure you actually want to call someone before it places the phone call.
The tweak adds these confirmations to the Recent Calls list, the Favorite Contacts area, and more. The tweak made its first appearance in an announcement post shared to /r/jailbreak earlier this week.
Additionally, CallMeMaybe includes options for hiding unwanted tabs from the Phone app to clean the interface up for the more minimalist-leaning side of you.
Once installed, CallMeMaybe adds a dedicated preference pane to the Settings app where users can configure the tweak to their liking:
Things you can do here include:
- Toggling call confirmations in the Recent Calls list
- Toggling call confirmations in the Favorite Contacts list
- Hiding the Favorites tab from the Phone app
- Hiding the Recents tab from the Phone app
- Hiding the Contacts tab from the Phone app
- Hiding the Voicemail tab from the Phone app
- Resetting options to their defaults
As a tweak that doubles as not only a deterrent for accidentally calling people, CallMeMaybe is an excellent way to remove superfluous tabs from the Phone app and make the interface more straightforward to the features you use most.
