In a digital world where businesses need more than just lines of code, Fively stands out as a company that combines engineering excellence with deep business insight. Founded by five senior engineers with a mission to build meaningful, scalable solutions, Fively has grown into a trusted partner for startups and enterprises across the globe. In today’s interview for Safety Detectives, Fively’s CEO Alexey Kalachik talked about how Fively began, what drives their innovation, and how they’re shaping the future of software development — from AI and blockchain to sustainable tech.

How did Fively begin, and what motivated the founders to start the company?

Fively started as a small group of five senior software engineers who wanted to do more than just write code — we wanted to build meaningful, scalable digital products that drive real business outcomes. Just as important, we wanted to create a space where we could engineer in a friendly, relaxed, and professional environment, free from the pressure of corporate routines and unnecessary bureaucracy.

Back in 2018, we noticed that many companies struggled to find development partners who truly listened, understood the business context, and took ownership of the product. So we set out to be that kind of partner. The idea was simple: focus on engineering excellence, clear communication, and deep understanding of the client’s needs in every domain we worked with.

That approach quickly gained traction, and today Fively works with clients across the US, UK, and Europe, helping them build everything from scalable SaaS platforms and web applications to Chrome extensions of any kind and even enterprise automation systems.

What core services does Fively offer to startups and enterprises?

We provide full-cycle custom software development — from ideation and product design to engineering, deployment, and support. Startups often come to us with just an idea, and we help them define their MVP, choose the right stack, and launch faster. Enterprises, on the other hand, look for modernization, scalability, or system integration.

We specialize in web and mobile app development across key industries such as E-commerce, FinTech, InsurTech, Cybersecurity, Healthcare, EdTech, Entertainment, and Real Estate. Some of the standout projects we’re especially proud of include a top-rated webinar platform on HubSpot WebinarNinja, a #1 popular car parking app in Scandinavia, CRM customization services for Volt company, which electrifies dozens of widely-known music festivals all across Europe, and a cybersecurity platform Uniqkey, trusted by the Danish Auditors Association.

Our team brings deep expertise in SaaS product engineering, cloud migration, and browser extension development. Recently, we’ve ventured into the world of AI, crafting a tailored AI-powered patient management system for SNAP, one of the leading healthcare providers in the USA. Plus, our team helped to create the Avo HR automation tool that boosts employee engagement, performance, and satisfaction in businesses of all sizes.

What matters to me deeply is that Fively contributes to a more sustainable future: we help clients build GreenTech and environmental protection tools that are already transforming workflows for a number of forward-thinking startups in Europe. From software that monitors pollution levels to solutions for nature restoration like the Veritree app, we support initiatives that make a real difference. We’ve also developed modern platforms for sustainable urban mobility, including the Cycle e-bike and cargo bike rental service, now operating in over 85 European cities.

Plus, we offer dedicated development teams and team augmentation for those who need to scale fast without sacrificing quality, as well as ongoing maintenance after the product launch to ensure a smooth user experience for our clients.

How does Fively maintain transparency and communication throughout the development process?

Transparency and clear communication are among our core principles. We’ve built the entire software development process around it — from detailed project scoping to regular check-ins and progress reports.

We understand that startups and many SMBs often work within tight budgets, so we always stay flexible and focus on offering the most optimal solutions that align with both the client’s goals and their financial capabilities. This budget-conscious approach helps our clients move forward with confidence, knowing their resources are being used wisely and efficiently.

We practice agile development to stay on the same page with the customer on every stage of the software development process. That’s why for every project, we assign a dedicated project manager and ensure that each team member has access to a shared dashboard with clear milestones, backlog, and timelines. We encourage direct communication between developers and customers, including daily standups and weekly brainstorms, so there’s never a “black box” phase — clients are always in the loop, whether it’s sprint demos, idea brainstorming, or daily Slack updates.

In what ways do your custom software solutions support scalability and long-term growth?

From the architecture level, we always think ahead: sometimes it’s tempting to jump on a trending technology, but it might cause scalability issues just a few months down the line. That’s why, whether we’re designing a multi-tenant SaaS system or integrating third-party APIs, our priority is to ensure the product is flexible, secure, and ready to scale.

We apply best practices with popular and well-tested technologies like Python, React, and Node.js, along with CI/CD pipelines and microservices architecture, while using trending cloud and serverless tools like Deno, SST, and Amazon Q where appropriate backed by top-tier experts who can make future updates seamless for our clients.

On the business side, we help our clients build products that are designed to grow. That means carefully planning user roles within the domain, implementing effective monetization strategies, setting up smart analytics, and structuring data right from the start. Many of our partners have scaled their solutions from MVPs into fully developed platforms used by thousands of users, and we’re proud to have supported them at every step of that journey.

What emerging technologies or innovations is Fively exploring for future development?

We’re actively exploring AI capabilities, particularly in predictive analytics, RNN algorithms, natural language processing, and test automation, employing the latest AI and ML technologies such as TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, Pandas, NumPy, LangChain, and more. As a result, Fively has already delivered tailored AI solutions for a no-code testing platform, a global patient management system, various enterprise decision-making tools, and smart sales optimization engines – and I’m more than proud of our team!

We also keep a close eye on blockchain, Web3, and serverless architecture. Our experts have hands-on experience with decentralized applications (dApps), smart contract development, and secure data sharing frameworks. We view blockchain as a foundational technology for building transparent, tamper-proof systems, especially in areas like identity management, supply chain traceability, and digital ownership. As the ecosystem matures, we continue to expand our capabilities and apply blockchain where it creates real business value.

Plus, we’re building more internal expertise around no-code integrations and browser extensions — powerful tools for businesses that need to move fast and test ideas quickly. Our approach is simple: be curious, be adaptable, and build future-proof solutions to help our clients stay ahead of the digital curve.
