Put iOS 14’s banner notifications on a diet with Nanobanners

It’s no secret that iOS’ notification banners are quite a bit chunkier than they need to be, and this means that they can inadvertently block navigation bar buttons or in-app content when they materialize.

Those looking to quell these two concerns in one fell swoop might be interested in the likes of a newly released and free jailbreak tweak dubbed Nanobanners (Sugiuta) by iOS developers Nepeta and Sugiuta, as it shrinks the size of your incoming notification banners rather substantially.

The Nanobanners tweak was originally released in 2019 for earlier versions of iOS by Nepeta, but the latest release we’re referencing today incorporates full iOS 14 support, which is particularly exciting given that more iOS 14 devices can now be jailbroken by unc0ver and soon Taurine.

Once installed, users can navigate to the dedicated preference pane in the Settings app where they can configure the Nanobanners tweak however they want:

Options here include:

  • Toggling Nanobanners on or off on demand
  • Choosing between default, left half, or right half banner types
  • Configuring a banner dismissal delay via a slider
  • Adjusting the content scroll rate via a slider
  • Adjusting the banner corner radius via a slider
  • Choosing between default, adaptive, and custom colors
  • If custom, selecting background and border colors independently of one another
  • Triggering a test banner to see your changes in real time
  • Respringing your device to save any changes you’ve made

I’m a particularly big fan of tweaks of this nature because they improve the usability of my device, I get so many notification banners throughout the day that it’s not even funny, so having a tweak to prevent those banners from covering navigation bar buttons rather than having to swipe those banners away all the time is a godsend.

Those interested in getting the Nanobanners tweak on their jailbroken iOS 14 device can download it for free from Sugiuta’s personal repository via their favorite package manager. If you aren’t already using that repository, then you can add it using the following URL:
