This may not be iOS Police, but we take tablets seriously, and they don’t get much better than the 13-inch M4 iPad Pro . We know users of possibly Apple’s best device ever — which, let’s be honest, leaves even the the best Android tablets in the dust — demand the best in protection, looks, and luxury when picking accessories, so we’ve dug up the most effective cases from the most respected brands.

There are quite a few styles to choose from, and each offers varying degrees of utility. From sturday keyboard cases to svelte, barely-there skins, there’s something for everybody, and space for the vaunted Apple Pencil, too.

Demanding tablet users love ESR cases due to their consistent, thoughtful builds and reliable functionality. The Rebound is relatively simple, but strong magnets keep your top-shelf slate stable and safe whether it’s unfolded on your lap or a table, or riding in your back. Like many ESR offerings, it comes a good selection of colors and has an indentation for holding the Apple Pencil.

  • Apple Smart Folio for iPad Pro 13, front view

Apple Smart Folio for iPad Pro 13 (2024)

Whether you prefer first-party cases or want slim protection for the iPad Pro 13 (2024), the official Apple Smart Folio is an excellent choice. It attaches magnetically to the iPad to offer essential protection. Its folio-style design also keeps the front and back of the tablet safe. However, it has no side protection and is unlikely to be very helpful if a severe drop occurs.

  • Poetic TurtleSkin for iPad Pro 13, front and back views

Poetic TurtleSkin for iPad Pro 13 (2024)

The Poetic TurtleSkin is a great, safe case if your kids use your iPad Pro. Its thick silicone construction absorbs impacts with ease. Moreover, it has raised edges, heat vents, and angled cutouts to redirect sound toward you.

The Pitaka MagEZ Folio 2 is a solid alternative to the official Apple Smart Folio with a significantly lower price tag. It has a similar slim profile and attaches magnetically to the iPad Pro 13 (2024). However, unlike Apple’s offering, which lacks any Apple Pencil storage, the Pitaka’s magnetic clasp that secures the front flap keeps the stylus in place. The front flap also doubles as a kickstand and offers four viewing angles.

Logitech Combo Touch for iPad Pro 13 (2024)
    $220 $260 Save $40

  • Torro Leather Case for iPad Pro 13, front and side views

Torro Leather Case for iPad Pro 13 (2024)

The Torro Leather Case looks elegant, featuring a leather exterior and a TPU shell. It uses top-grain cowhide leather for a premium look and will develop a lovely patina over time, further adding character to its look. The case fits snugly on the 13-inch iPad Pro and doubles as a stand when needed. Unlike a magnetic mechanism in other folio-style cases, the case also uses an elastic strap to secure the front flap. Unfortunately, it lacks an Apple Pencil holder.

Keep the 13-inch iPad Pro (2024) safe

The 2024 iPad Pro 13 is an exciting piece of tech, but accidents happen. Before your new iPad takes a tumble, choose a high-quality case to keep it safe. Our top pick, the ESR Shift, wasn’t immediately available upon the iPad Pro’s release, but practically everybody was waiting for it. It’s not just protective and reliable, its magnetic attachment makes it easy to spin your tablet to either orientation and maximize its utility. It’s not even terribly expensive, either.

Zugu makes an especially popular and well-know line of cases, and this iteration is about as durable as it gets. Even in the rare event you drop your tablet, Zugu’s rugged case will keep it safe, and the rock-solid stand and airflow vents ensure your iPad’s easy to use for hours.

We tapped another ESR for our value pick, in this case the Rebound. It’s the popular company’s simplest iPad cover, but that doesn’t mean it has any drawbacks. Quite the opposite, in fact — minimalists who don’t want to settle for no-name accessories would do well to consider the Rebound and its premium materials. For relatively affordable rugged protection, you can go with the Poetic and Supcase offerings.

And as far as keyboard cases go, Logitech’s Combo Touch is a top-notch choice that delivers solid protection, costs less than the OEM Magic Keyboard Case, and actually feels and types better than Apple’s according to many. You can also detach the keyboard part of the case when you don’t need it.
