If you prefer your smartphones to be a little more visually arresting than a simple bar-shape, then step one is to choose a compact folding phone instead. If you then want something even more eye-catching, step two is to pick the new Motorola Razr and Swarovski collaboration phone. Then get ready to really make a statement.

The Motorola x Swarovski partnership has entered its second phase with The Brilliant Collection, which pairs an updated version of the Moto Buds Loop earbuds with a new Swarovski crystal-encrusted Razr phone. Motorola once again proves it really knows what it’s doing with materials and design, as this is far from a quick visual refresh.

The new Razr combines Swarovski crystals with a new Pantone color for maximum impact, and rather than use glass or plastic for the rear panel, it has chosen a leather-like 3D finish instead. The quilted pattern’s color is called Ice Melt (appropriate given the amount of crystals on the phone), and looks like a cool blue in the images.

In total, there are 35 Swarovski crystals on the Razr, with the single crystal on the hinge having 26 flat surfaces, ensuring it’ll really catch the light. The volume keys have been redesigned to take on a crystal-like shape, and the whole thing can be wrapped up in a matching crossbody case.

Joining the Swarovski-covered Razr is a new pair of Moto Buds Loop earbuds, which share the same Ice Melt color, with Swarovski crystals covering the loop. The earbuds are part of the current trend for open-ear earbuds, allowing you to stay in touch with your surroundings while listening.

Motorola says the Brilliant Collection is just the beginning of a growing Collections range, and we should expect more releases soon. It does not say these will be limited to Swarovski-inspired versions, meaning it may have other interesting collaborations in the works too. Earlier this year, it surprised with a Paris Hilton collaboration Razr+ phone, which should give you an idea of how creative it’s prepared to get.

If you want the Swarovski Razr and Moto Buds Loop, they will be released on August 15 for $1,000. You’ll be able to buy them from Amazon, Best Buy, and Motorola’s own online store, plus through Cricket Wireless too.
