Microsoft has unveiled the first wave of titles coming to its subscription service, Xbox Game Pass, throughout the month of August. While only four new games are coming to the Game Pass Ultimate tier this month, one of them is a AAA game.
The game in question would be Assassin’s Creed Mirage, the game in Ubisoft’s stealth-action series that was released before Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Game Pass Standard subscribers can also look forward to some pretty great games dropping.
What games are coming to Xbox Game Pass during the first half of August?
Assassin’s Creed Mirage and more
Between August 5 and August 14, only four new games are set to come to the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate catalog, and none are day-one releases into the service. Assassin’s Creed Mirage is the most notable of the four, as it’s technically a AAA game.
Ubisoft intentionally made Assassin’s Creed Mirage not as ambitious as the RPG games in the series, though. It’s more similar in structure to the Xbox 360-era Assassin’s Creed games. Aliens: Fireteam Elite, Rain World, and 9 Kings are the other three Game Pass Ultimate additions.
Just as many games are coming to Game Pass Standard — the slightly cheaper tier of the service that’s restricted to consoles and has a smaller game library — over the next several days. Those additions consist of solid indies that previously came to Game Pass Ultimate, like Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector and Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders.
You can see the full list of games coming to Xbox Game Pass throughout the first half of August below. I’ve denoted the day it will be added to the service and whether or not it’s a Standard or Ultimate title.
- Rain World – August 5 (Ultimate)
- Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector – August 6 (Standard)
- Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders – August 6 (Standard)
- MechWarrior 5: Clans – August 6 (Standard)
- Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap – August 6 (Standard)
- Assassin’s Creed Mirage – August 7 (Ultimate)
- Aliens: Fireteam Elite – August 12 (Ultimate)
- 9 Kings – August 14 (Ultimate)
What games are leaving Xbox Game Pass on August 15?
Goodbye forever, Anthem
Every 15 days or so, some games leave the Game Pass catalog. Three will be removed on August 15:
- Anthem
- Farming Simulator 22
- Persona 3 Reload
These losses are somewhat understandable. EA has announced plans to delist and shut down Anthem, so it makes sense to no longer offer it as part of EA Play on Game Pass. Meanwhile, Farming Simulator 22 was recently replaced by a more recent entry in the series in the Game Pass catalog.
Finally, Persona 3 Reload was just announced for Nintendo Switch 2 during a Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase, and Atlus likely wants people to be interested in picking it up there. If you want to play any of these three games without buying them, make sure you do so via Game Pass before August 15.
