Aemulo, one of the most comprehensive jailbreak tweaks for tinkering with the Near Field Communications (NFC) capabilities of jailbroken iPhones, has apparently moved from the Chariz to the Havoc repository in a move that developer Amy While (@elihwyma) says is primarily motivated by the need for alternative payment options.
With Aemulo, it’s possible to read, write, and emulate NFC tags with your iPhone that you would ordinarily keep in your wallet or on your keychain directly on your iPhone. You can then add those NFC tags to your iPhone’s Wallet app and summon them on demand from the Lock Screen to be used anywhere. Nifty indeed!
As Aemulo is a paid jailbreak tweak, the developer wants more jailbreakers to be be able to access it. The build currently live on the Havoc repository is exactly the same as the one that has been available in the Chariz repository all this time, but it’s worth noting that Aemulo 2 is currently in its beta testing phases and is coming soon.
From what we can gather, Aemulo 2 will be a free upgrade from the original Aemulo via the Havoc repository. It will not be a separate purchase from the original tweak, which should be great news for anyone who already owns and uses the Aemulo tweak.
As for those concerned about how moving from one repository to another might affect their tweak ownership status, While says that all existing users should receive an email from the Havoc or Chariz repository with a special promo code that will allow them to redeem the tweak via the Havoc repository and continue updating.
Comments by users in response to the original post shared on X (formerly Twitter) are a mixed bag. Some users are upset with the switch, while others report that they haven’t received the promo code to redeem via Havoc. According to Amy, those in the latter camp should check their spam folders just in case, and reach out to Havoc support for help if that doesn’t yield results.
Those wanting to give Aemulo a try can currently purchase it for $1.49 from the Havoc repository via their favorite package manager app. The tweak supports jailbroken iOS 13, 14, 15, 16, and 17 devices only. If you already owned Aemulo prior to this change, then you can simply redeem the promo code you get via email in the Sileo package manager to acquire it.
