SpongeBob SquarePants: Titans of the Tide was the most notable reveal from the latest THQ Nordic video game showcase. It’s launching on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch 2 on November 18, and looks to be a full-fledged 3D platformer set in the universe of the popular kids’ show.
The European publisher behind series like Alone in the Dark, Darksiders, and Destroy All Humans often holds a digital showcase ahead of Gamescom, a massive gaming trade show that takes place in Germany every August. This year’s show contained multiple new game announcements and meaningful release window updates for many upcoming titles.
What was announced at THQ Nordic’s Showcase 2025 showcase?
SpongeBob SquarePants: Titans of the Tide and more
Ahead of the showcase, some already released games from its sister company Amplifier Studios were highlighted. Once the showcase proper began, we got deeper looks at unreleased THQ Nordic games. Some of these were shown off for the first time today, like the 3D platformer SpongeBob SquarePants: Titans of the Tide.
Titans of the Tide is a follow-up to Purple Lamp’s remake of the classic SpongeBob game Battle for Bikini Bottom and 2023’s follow-up, The Cosmic Shake. This new game shakes things up by letting players swap between controlling SpongeBob and Patrick at any time as they take on The Flying Dutchman. Its reveal trailer even featured a singing David Hasselhoff and is definitely worth a watch if you have any nostalgia or love for the SpongeBob TV show.
Other notable reveals from the showcase include a remaster of Sacred 2, the surprise release of Titan Quest 2 into early access, medieval sandbox game The Guild: Europa 1410, first-person fantasy RPG Fatekeeper, and confirmation that Darksiders 4 is in the works at Gunfire Games.
When all was said and done, 15 games were shown off during the THQ Nordic Digital Showcase. You can see the full list of titels featured below:
- SpongeBob SquarePants: Titans of the Tide
