It’s not uncommon for streaming services to suddenly go MIA. We recently saw the YouTube TV app stop working on Roku devices, but if all your apps stop loading, it usually points to a broader outage.
That seems to be the case with Samsung Smart TVs right now. As spotted by Android Authority, hundreds of users on Reddit are saying that all apps are failing to launch on their Samsung TVs.
According to affected users, apps like YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and even Samsung’s own TV Plus aren’t loading on their devices. Instead, they’re getting a “202 error” when trying to open any app. Interestingly, these services continue to work normally on other devices — just not on Samsung TVs.
Some users have reached out to Samsung Support, and were told that the company is “aware of a potential disruption” and is already working on a fix for the same.
Samsung may have already fixed the issue quietly
Fortunately, it appears that Samsung has already resolved the issue. Many users are reporting that apps are working again and launching normally on their TVs.
While error 202 typically relates to an internet issue, this instance appears to have been caused by a DNS problem on Samsung’s end. I use a Samsung Smart TV myself, but I have Google DNS set up as a custom DNS, and I didn’t encounter this issue in the past 24 hours. Regardless, even users with the default DNS settings are now reporting restored access.
If you’re still experiencing problems on your Samsung TV, some users suggest holding the power button on the remote until the TV force-restarts, as that seems to resolve the issue for many.
If that doesn’t work, your best option may be to contact Samsung Support directly for further help.
