A major player in the Google TV streaming space is making big moves with new hardware

Onn offers some of the best value Google TV streaming products on the market. We’ve tested a few of their devices in the past and came away surprised. So, as you can imagine, we were pretty excited to know that some successors to our favorites were in the pipeline, and it looks like they’ve now started to appear on store shelves at local Walmart stores.

New stock rolling in

The news comes from a user on Reddit, who was able to pick up a new 4K streaming stick at their local store without any issues (via 9to5Google). Of course, we don’t have the full story yet, but a lot of people think that this product might have slipped through the cracks and landed on the store shelf when it wasn’t supposed to.

So, if you’re planning on checking your local Walmart for the latest from Onn, there’s a good chance you might be disappointed. When it comes to the hardware of the new streaming stick, this is one of the more basic offerings, but still features good hardware like a quad-core chip, 2GB of RAM, and 8GB of internal storage.

Naturally, we’re holding out for Onn’s flagship successor to the Google TV 4K Pro. This is the one that really blew us away last year. The zippy streaming box delivered on all levels, and did so with a cost of just $50. It really is the best value streamer out on the market, and definitely an easy pick over Google’s own streaming device.

The one we can’t wait for

When it comes to the new model, what we’ve seen from leaked information is that the hardware could end up being pretty much the same as the current model when it comes to RAM and storage. From what’s been reported, the RAM will come in at 3GB, while the storage will stay at 32GB.

With that said, it will reportedly be getting a new design that makes it look a lot like Google’s own TV Streamer. We don’t know much about the new device, but it will be interesting to see what other changes it will have in tow. And here’s hoping that it doesn’t get a price increase. With Onn’s new device hitting store shelves, there’s a good chance we’ll get to see this one soon.
