Unc0ver v3.0.0 beta 41 released with support for the new machswap exploit

Just yesterday, hacker and unc0ver lead developer Pwn20wnd dropped a significant update for the unc0ver v3.0.0 pre-release, one that added support for 4K devices and made the iOS 12-centric jailbreak tool fully-compatible with all pre-A12 devices for the first time.

But one must wonder when Pwn20wnd finds time to sleep, as
the hacker seemingly released another update for the unc0ver v3.0.0 pre-release
in the middle of the night, bringing the tool up to beta version 41.

Pwn20wnd announced the update via Twitter at 3:27 A.M. Eastern time, adding that the tool now supports the brand-new machswap exploit that we talked about several days ago:

Citing Pwn20wnd, the biggest highlight of the machswap exploit is its 95% success rate on all 4K devices running iOS 11.0-12.1.2. This is a significant departure from the somewhat low success rate of previously-used exploits, such as v1ntex and v3ntex.

Other changes are also present in this update, and they’re listed
in the latest changelog on Pwn20wnd’s GitHub repository:

03/04/2019 – v3.0.0~b41 was released for public testing with the following changes:

– Add the machswap exploit by @iBSparkes with 95% success rate for all 4K devices on iOS 11.0-12.1.2

– Remove the v1ntex and v3ntex exploits

– Update jailbreak-resources to fix a faulty kernel patch

As a side note, team unc0ver has also updated the tool’s
jailbreak resources for iOS 12 users, and those updates are now available in
the Elucubratus repository, which is installed to Cydia by default after
jailbreaking with unc0ver. As it would seem, this update will improve device
stability in the long run.

It
should be noted that A12(X) devices such as the iPhone XR, XS, and XS Max and
the iPad Pro (2018) are not yet supported in this version of the unc0ver
jailbreak tool, but that’s expected to change soon as the hacker’s PAC-forging
efforts continue.

It
should be noted that the unc0ver v3.0.0 pre-release is still a beta, and while
it might be tempting to hop onboard right now, we’d strongly advise waiting for
the official public release to prevent any possible bugs from manifesting.

Those
already jailbroken on iOS 12 with the unc0ver v3.0.0
pre-release are being advised to download and run this update as soon as
possible to take full advantage of the new features and improvements.

The
latest public release of the unc0ver jailbreak tool is v2.2.6 with support for
iOS 11.0-11.4 beta 4 – the unc0ver v3.0.0 pre-release is the only iteration
that supports iOS 11.4-11.4.1. Both versions of the unc0ver jailbreak tool can be had from Pwn20wnd’s official GitHub repository.
