It’s unclear where the future of phones is heading, but some folks believe that foldables are going to be the norm in the not-so-distant future, which is why we’ve seen brands like Samsung, Motorola, and others invest in the technology. And while that might be the case, the biggest hurdle we’re seeing right now with this genre of product is that it’s simply just not as accessible.

Foldables are some of the most expensive smartphones that you can buy, and it doesn’t appear that the prices are coming down any time soon. But, every once in a while, we’ll see some deals that bring these devices down to more reasonable levels, which could become a great starting point for someone looking to dip their toes in the water.

A Pixel that folds for under $500?

Google Pixel Fold in hand

It’s hard to believe, but Google has only been making foldable phones for three generations. And while the Pixel 10 Pro Fold is an absolute beast with its refined design, fantastic hardware and software, many often forget about Google’s first attempt with the Pixel Fold.

Despite not seeing much of the spotlight in 2026, the phone is still getting better and better. Google’s promise to support the phone with five years of updates means that it will continue to get new features, and will still get a few more major Android revisions. Plus, some think that the phone’s design was actually ahead of its time.

Despite being older hardware, this phone is still plenty capable, powered by Google’s Tensor G2 chip that’s paired with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The phone packs a triple camera setup on the rear, with a 48MP main sensor, 10.8MP ultrawide, and 10.8MP 5x optical zoom camera.

It’s still very capable in 2026

All of the above, combined with the latest version of Android, means you’re getting a pretty good experience. In fact, the design is more comfortable for daily use, and Google has done a lot of work in order to get the software to feel good, like it’s a natural part of the foldable phone experience.

But what takes this phone over the top right now, putting it over any other foldable phone that you can buy, is the price. The Pixel Fold popped up on Woot, coming in at just $479. Now, we know it’s not quite fair to compare it to its original price, but this phone landed with an MSRP of $1,799 just a few years ago.

That’s a massive discount that I’m sure anyone can get on board with. The phone from Woot is brand new, so no refurbished or used devices here. Furthermore, you get a full year of warranty for the product, just in case you have any issues. It’s a great way to begin your foldable phone journey if you’re just starting out.
