In its current form, Find Hub works pretty well. But Google’s been making some improvements over the past month, introducing a couple of new features here and there that could make it that much better.

And while the year is coming to a close, it looks like Google has one more final update for Find Hub in the form of introducing layers. The information comes from 9to5Google, shedding light on new map layers that have been introduced to the app.

This should be useful

The Find Hub map makes it pretty easy to find what you’re looking for, but just in case you’re in an area that needs more clarity, Google has added in new map layers that can be accessed in order to potentially increase the chances of you locating your item.

Just like Maps, you’ll have access to the default settings, along with satellite and terrain. While this might not seem like a big deal, it could be helpful to see the satellite view in order to get a better idea of where you are in relation to your lost item.

And just in case you need it, Find Hub will also have a view where you can add in traffic data. It’s unclear how this one can be used, but it’s going to be in there for the time being.

The final push

Now, the above update might not be as helpful for some, but we can at least appreciate that Google is putting in some effort to make small but impactful changes. At the top of the month, the brand pushed an update to the app that could make tracking a whole lot better going forward.

We know that the technology is all there, but Google’s default setting for Find Hub just wasn’t enough to create a thorough network. With this new change, it should make things clearer for users, so that they can opt in to make the network better. Naturally, if you haven’t made this change, we recommend doing so now.

When is the layers update coming?

The good news is that this update is already available. You’ll want to update your app to the latest version, and wait patiently as it looks to be a server-side update. So, you may want to close the app and restart it just to see if the new layers option if available.
