Samsung launched the One UI 8.5 beta program for the Galaxy S25 series at the beginning of the month. Now, a couple of weeks later, it is rolling out the second beta build with several bug fixes. More importantly, it’s expanding the beta program to more regions as well.

The first One UI 8.5 beta was only available for Galaxy S25 users in South Korea, Germany, the US, and the UK. With the second ZYLH beta, S25 users in India and Poland can also join the program through the Samsung Members app.

In other eligible countries, the firmware is rolling out as the second beta with a download size of about 1143MB.

The update primarily seems to focus on squashing several notable bugs, including those that led to random reboots.

Samsung leaker @tarunvats33 posted the full release notes of the ZYLH beta 2 firmware, which you can find below:

Bugs that have been fixed:

– Improved the issue of quick panel settings initializing intermittently when booting.

– Improved errors such as quick panel menu screen icon spacing and location.

– Improved the issue of photos organized into gallery group folders being moved to the first album page.

– Improved the stuttering issue when pressing the “More View” menu during a call.

– Improved the intermittent rebooting issue.

– Improved the issue where the volume up button does not work under certain conditions.

– Improved the issue of sound generation in the device when making a call with a Bluetooth car kit connection under certain conditions.

– Improved issues where multiple third-party apps are forcibly terminated while in use.

– Stabilized software through multiple app updates, such as the camera.

Samsung has likely made additional UI changes and introduced new features in One UI 8.5 beta 2 that aren’t mentioned in the release notes. These should surface in the coming days and weeks.

One UI 8.5 is a few months away from its public release

While still based on Android 16, One UI 8.5 is built on top of the latest Android 16 Quarterly Platform Release, QPR2. This is the first time Samsung, or any other Android manufacturer, has based their skin off a major Android quarterly update.

Besides performance and efficiency improvements, Android 16 QPR2 brings additional customization options and tweaks. Samsung should further build on them with One UI 8.5.

Despite starting a beta program in early December, One UI 8.5 will likely only go stable in late February or March alongside the Galaxy S26’s release.
