In this SafetyDetectives interview, we speak with Elad Motola, Managing Director and Lead Auditor at Consilium Labs, an accredited certification body specializing in modern security, privacy, and AI governance frameworks. Elad oversees global strategy, operations, and accreditation programs, while guiding the company’s auditors, technical teams, and partner ecosystem. With a focus on modernizing certification and strengthening organizational governance, he shares how Consilium Labs tackles today’s audit bottlenecks, supports data-driven decision making, and helps organizations prepare for the next wave of security and regulatory challenges.

Can you introduce yourself and talk about your role at Managing Director at Consilium Labs?

I’m Elad Motola, I serve as the Managing Director and Lead Auditor at Consilium Labs, where I oversee the company’s strategy, operations, and accreditation programs. My responsibilities include financial oversight, business development, and leading both sales and marketing to drive growth across all regions. I also manage our global partner ecosystem and guide the development of new frameworks and service lines. Internally, I work closely with our auditors, project teams, and technical specialists to ensure our processes align with the highest international standards for security, privacy, and AI governance. A core part of my role is scaling the business, strengthening relationships with clients and partners, and ensuring that Consilium Labs delivers a modern, credible, and trusted certification experience worldwide.

For readers who may not know the company, what problems does Consilium Labs focus on solving, and what sets your approach apart in the cybersecurity and data governance space?

Consilium Labs is an accredited certification body specializing in modern audit frameworks for security, privacy, and AI management systems. Many organizations struggle with outdated audit processes, slow certification timelines, or inconsistent evaluator expertise. We solve this by delivering accredited, high-quality audits through a modernized operating model built around clarity, professionalism, and process excellence. Our auditors are true subject-matter experts, and our methodology emphasizes transparency, predictable timelines, and a strong client experience without compromising impartiality. This combination of accredited rigor and modern execution is what differentiates our approach.

Organizations today struggle to turn raw data into actionable, trustworthy insights. How does Consilium Labs help teams improve data quality, transparency, and decision making at scale?

Our certifications create the governance foundation that organizations need in order to trust their data and systems. Whether it’s ISO 27001, ISO 27701, ISO 42001, SOC 2, or CSA STAR, we assess how controls are implemented, monitored, and validated. By strengthening the organization’s governance structure and ensuring data flows are securely managed, we help leadership rely on accurate information when making decisions. Certification forces the organization to document data sources, identify gaps, validate evidence, and maintain consistency across teams, which naturally improves data quality and transparency.

Many CISOs cite visibility gaps and fragmented tooling as major blockers. What are the biggest operational pain points you see among your clients, and how does your technology address them?

The most common challenges we see are fragmented evidence sources, unclear ownership of controls, inconsistent processes, and limited real-time visibility across environments. These gaps make it difficult for leaders to understand their true security posture or prepare effectively for an audit.
To address this, we rely on a structured, technology-supported audit methodology that centralizes evidence, standardizes workflows, and reduces manual effort. Our approach brings order and predictability to environments that previously lacked it, while giving organizations a clearer view of their compliance status throughout the audit lifecycle. Whether a client uses automation tools or traditional systems, our process ensures higher visibility, smoother coordination, and more reliable outcomes.

AI-driven automation is reshaping how companies manage risk. How is Consilium Labs incorporating AI or machine learning to support governance, compliance, or threat reduction?

At Consilium Labs, we take a responsible and deliberate approach to AI. We do not rely on automated shortcuts or generic report generation, because accredited certification requires accuracy, impartiality, and expert human judgment. Instead, we use AI selectively to streamline internal tasks such as organizing information, identifying inconsistencies that require human review, and reducing administrative overhead. Every assessment conclusion is made by experienced auditors, not algorithms.

We are also one of the first accredited certification bodies to offer ISO 42001 certification, placing us at the forefront of responsible AI governance. This position allows us to help organizations demonstrate transparency, accountability, and strong risk controls as they scale their AI systems.

Our goal is to maintain a modern audit process supported by technology where it adds value, while preserving the rigor and integrity that accredited certification demands.

Looking ahead, what should security and data leaders prepare for over the next few years, and how is Consilium Labs adapting its roadmap to meet those emerging challenges?

Security and data leaders should anticipate rapid regulatory expansion around AI, stricter expectations for transparency, and deeper integration between security, privacy, and data governance frameworks. As systems become more automated and distributed, organizations will need more mature governance models, continuous monitoring, and predictable certification cycles.
Consilium Labs is preparing by expanding into additional standards, increasing automation throughout the audit lifecycle, and scaling our network of global auditors. Our roadmap focuses on ensuring clients can navigate this evolving landscape with a clear, structured, and future-ready certification partner.
