The latest wearable is an “earable” called the Lumia 2, a tiny smart earring that weighs less than a gram, and tracks your circulation to provide information on your energy levels, focus, sleep, readiness, and cycles.

You may be wondering how you missed the first Lumia product, but you probably didn’t. It was primarily developed for use in clinical environments, making the Lumia 2 the first device for general consumer use from the company.

Almost certainly spurred on by the interest and success around smart rings, the Lumia 2 blurs the line between technology and jewelry even more. Is it only for people with pierced ears? No, the company has thought about design and usage sensibly.

The Lumia 2 is a modular device, with the tech hidden in a section behind your ear, attached to the jewelry part visible from the front. It’s available in different styles for pierced ears, and as a cuff for non-pierced ears. There’s even a generic transparent cuff for those who don’t want to make a statement by wearing an earring.

The earrings are made from materials including titanium and platinum, and the battery is expected to last for about a week on a single charge.

According to the company’s website, the Lumia 2 smart earring will track blood flow in your ears, providing data on sleep tracking, body temperature, heart rate, heart rate variability, and cycle tracking too. Metrics on steps and strain will help you understand daily activity.

Lumia CEO Daniel Lee talked about how understanding blood flow can change your life.

While we’ve been building for people with chronic blood flow disorders, our team members without blood flow disorders have discovered fascinating blood flow patterns that have changed how we live for the better. From seeing how the way you sit affects your blood flow and cognitive performance, to visualizing the consequences of your carb-heavy lunch choice in your post-lunch dip, to seeing how morning exercise can boost your circulation for the rest of the day. The transformative personal revelations have been endless.

The Lumia 2 smart earring will be available in the U.S. and Canada initially, where it will cost $249. No specific release date has been stated yet. Just like many other smart wearables, there’s a subscription package attached to it, which is priced at $10 per month.

It’s not clear whether the Lumia 2 earrings will function without the subscription. It’s more than the Oura Ring 4’s $6 per month, and the same as Fitbit Premium with the Google Pixel Watch 4.
