The OnePlus 15 is undoubtedly the phone of the moment, having launched to near-universal praise. We scored it a solid 8.5 stars of 10 in our OnePlus 15 review, and highlighted its extremely long-lived battery as being a key reason to love it. If you’re looking for a phone that can go for days and days on a single charge, well, the OnePlus 15 is one of the best ways to go.

Except if you’re in the US, that is. Because while the phone has launched globally, the US is a big exception. As such, the OnePlus 15 won’t be coming to the US yet — but don’t worry, that won’t be the case forever.

The OnePlus 15 is delayed in the US

The OnePlus 15 on charge

The OnePlus 15’s otherwise-global release has been marred by one, pretty significant exception. It won’t be coming to the US yet, and it’s entirely because of the government shutdown currently in effect. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is required to check over any handset due to be sold in the US, and, as a branch of the government, it’s currently in shutdown mode, and unable to run any tests.

OnePlus’s official statement runs as follows:

“As is the case with every smartphone manufacturer, the United States’ Federal Communications Commission certifies OnePlus devices before they are sold in the US. As a result of the government shutdown, device certifications have been delayed. Subsequently, US sales for the OnePlus 15 will be postponed until they have been secured. The OnePlus 15 has already finished all the required tests from the FCC’s recognized labs and the certification application has been formally submitted. We are hopeful that approvals can be generated quickly and as a result, we can bring the OnePlus 15 to our customers in the U.S. expeditiously.”

If you’re a US-based OnePlus fan then all is not lost. OnePlus says you can still register your interest on the OnePlus US website, and you’ll be informed when the phone is finally available for purchase. However, that won’t be until the government shutdown is over, at least. Is it worth waiting for? You’ll have to wait to find out, but at the moment, it seems like it might be.

For everyone else in the world, the OnePlus 15 is available from today. Prices for it start from $900.
