Android is loaded with features, and yet it’s easy to use overall. However, things can get a bit complicated if you have multiple Android phones, because in that case, which apps are installed on which device can be confusing. If your Android phone is tied to the same Google account, then it’s slightly easier, as the Google Play Store shows how many of your devices an app is installed on.
This Google Play Store feature has been available for Android users for quite some time now. Now, Google is taking it to another level by allowing Android users to use the Play Store to better manage apps across devices.
Google Play Store listing now has an “Uninstall” option
Google has started pushing an update to the Google Play Store, taking it to version 48.8 and introducing a couple of interesting new features. The most exciting part about this update is the new way to uninstall an Android app from the Play Store.
According to the changelog posted on Google’s official support page (via Android Authority), you won’t have to use your Android phone to uninstall an app. If you have multiple Android phones with the same Google account, you’ll be able to remove an app from any of them using the new “Uninstall” button on the Play Store listing.
Uninstalling apps remotely isn’t new to Android, but until now, you needed to go to the Manage apps & devices page > Manage, apply the device filter, and then select the app you want to uninstall. The new “Uninstall” button eliminates the need to go through all these steps.
However, the caveat is that you’ll need to go to the app page on the Google Play Store to find the new “Uninstall” option. If you want to uninstall multiple apps this way on your secondary Android phone, it will take some time and effort. On the other hand, the device filter reveals all the apps that are installed on a device, along with the option to delete the ones you no longer need.
On the bright side of things, the “Uninstall” button appears right next to the name of each Android phone the app is installed on, right within the Play Store listing. This means you can remove the app from multiple devices, all without using them. Again, the Play Store listing will show the names of only those devices that are using the same Google account as the one on your current phone.
Google Play Store version 48.8 is rolling out slowly, so it may still not show up on your phone. Nevertheless, the good news is that it won’t take long to become available for everyone.
