Google Messages just made a subtle change to keep more of your favorite conversations front and center

Google Messages keeps evolving, which is a good thing, considering that it’s the default messaging app for a lot of popular Android phones. This year, it has implemented some pretty big changes, with the most important being the recent move to Material 3 Expressive. Of course, Google isn’t going to stop with the updates anytime soon, which means new features will continue to pop up here and there.

According to Android Authority, Messages is now implementing a new change, upping the number of conversations you can pin. You’d think that Google would just provide an unlimited amount, but it’s actually pretty limited, only allowing up to 10. Luckily, we’re now getting an increase, which doubles the current number, bringing the total conversations you can pin in Messages up to 20.

Some are going to love this

Sure, this isn’t the most exciting update that we’ve seen for Messages, but it’s also not a bad one either. This is an important feature that often flies under the radar, but lets you keep important conversations at the top of the list so you never lose sight. Personally, I’ve never used pins, but I know folks that rely on the feature in order to improve their messaging workflow.

If you’ve never tried pinning a conversation, now might be the time to give it a shot. Just head into the Messages app, tap and hold on a conversation, and you will see the option to pin it. Once this is complete, the conversation will stay at the top of the Message app, no matter how many new messages you receive. Again, it’s a great way to keep messages that are important at the top of your list.

It even works for group chats as well. If you need to keep some specific messages safe and easy to access, starring is going to be a better option. That way you can find the messages easily when they eventually get buried.
