Samsung was the first to bring Wear OS 6–powered smartwatches to market with the Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch Ultra (2025). Around the same time those models hit retail shelves, the company rolled out the stable One UI 8 Watch build for the Galaxy Watch Ultra (2024). Now, as Google begins pushing Wear OS 6 to its 2023 and 2024 Pixel Watches, Samsung is following suit with the stable update for its 2024 Galaxy Watch 7.
Samsung has been running a One UI 8 Watch beta program for the Galaxy Watch 7 since late June. Despite releasing multiple beta builds and no major bugs being reported, the company held off on pushing the stable update to the public.
This could be due to Samsung waiting for Google to push Wear OS 6 to its older Pixel Watches. With the latter seeding the update last week, the Korean giant has now commenced the stable One UI 8 Watch rollout for its 2024 smartwatch.
For now, the BYI4 firmware is only live in Korea, but it should expand to more countries and regions later this week (via @tarunvats33). In addition to Wear OS 6 and One UI 8 Watch, the almost 2GB firmware contains the September 2025 security patch. Galaxy Watch 7 users on the One UI 8 Watch beta program will get a considerably smaller 160MB build.
If you own the Galaxy Watch 7, check for the Wear OS 6 update using the companion Wearable app on your phone by going to Watch settings > Watch software update > Download and install.
One UI 8 Watch will make the Galaxy Watch 7 even better
One UI 8 Watch brings several new health features to Samsung’s 2024 smartwatch. This includes Bedtime Guidance that will analyze your sleep pressure and circadian rhythm to recommend a bedtime. Vascular Load will assess the load on your circulatory system while you are awake and sleeping and provide recommendations to help improve your heart health.
Antioxidant Index will use the BIA sensor on the Galaxy Watch 7 to measure carotenoids in your skin and give a relevant score based on that.
Other improvements include Now Bar support, new tiles, and performance enhancements.
While Samsung is also beta testing One UI 8 Watch for the Galaxy Watch 6, its stable release should only go live next month.
