Annapurna Interactive — the boutique indie game publisher known for games like Florence, Outer Wilds, and Lego Voyagers — just revealed three new games at its Tokyo Game Show showcase. The new reveals include a musical RPG, a narrative puzzle game set in a utopia, and a fantasy action game inspired by The Legend of Zelda.

All three are set to be released sometime next year and are playable at Tokyo Game Show. I’m particularly excited to learn more about People of Note, as it can capitalize on the momentum of what has been a great decade for both throwback and experimental RPGs.

What was announced at the Annapurna Interactive TGS Showcase 2025?

The three games revealed by Annapurna Interactive during its latest showcase are People of Note, D-Topia, and Demi and the Fractured Dream.

As I’ve previously alluded to, People of Note is the standout as it’s simultaneously going to be a narrative-driven musical and turn-based RPG. Just as comedy-driven games are hard to create, so are musical games.

Still, People of Note is arriving in the wake of fantastic music-driven games like Stray Gods and Hi-Fi Rush and amazing RPGs like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Hopefully, developer Iridium Studios can learn from the successes of those games to create a memorable experience.

D-Topia is almost just as intriguing to me, even though it’s a very different game. It’s a puzzle game where players have to help people around a utopian residential facility that’s run by an A.I., slowly unraveling the personal issues the people there still struggle with in what’s supposed to be a perfect world. Its story feels relevant to our current times, and I always love a well-designed puzzle game.

Finally, we have Demi and the Fractured Dream, an action-adventure game that clearly pays tribute to classic The Legend of Zelda games. It’s probably the least original-looking game of the bunch, but Annapurna Interactive has a solid enough track record that I’m willing to give this ambitious game from a small development team a shot.

D-Topia and Demi and the Fractured Dream are set for release on PC, PS5, Xbox Series S, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2, while People of Note is currently slated for release on all platforms except Nintendo’s. While this Direct didn’t have any of the earth-shattering reveals like your typical Nintendo Direct or State of Play, I am glad it put some interesting-looking new indie games on my radar.
