One of the most underrated upgrades in the Pixel 10 lineup is the addition of Qi2 magnetic wireless charging. It eliminates the need to perfectly align your phone on a wireless pad while opening the gates to a whole ecosystem of magnetic accessories. Google unveiled its own lineup of Pixelsnap accessories for the Pixel 10, including the Pixelsnap Ring Stand. If you plan to use the Pixelsnap Ring Stand directly on a bare Pixel 10, be cautious — the accessory could leave scratches on the phone’s back.
One Pixel 10 Pro user posted a PSA on the r/GooglePixel sub-reddit about the Pixelsnap Ring Stand scratching the back of his phone. He believes the issue stems from the plastic ring coming into direct contact with the glass. Google could have easily avoided this issue by making the puck slightly larger to prevent it from touching the rear panel.
Some Redditors pointed out that the glass was probably not scratched by the metal ring itself. Instead, tiny dust particles trapped between the ring and the phone are the more likely culprit. Google did include a soft microfiber liner inside the Pixelsnap Ring Stand to prevent scratches, but it seemingly overlooked the risk of dust particles getting trapped in between.
There have been more complaints surrounding the Pixelsnap Ring Stand from Pixel 10 users, including loose screws and wireless charging issues.
The Pixelsnap Ring Stand is still a great Pixel 10 accessory
Admittedly, this is only a concern if you’re using your Pixel 10 without a case and attaching a Pixelsnap Ring Stand directly to the back. Most users typically use a case with their phones. And if you are not, consider using a thin Qi2-compatible case as a workaround. Or put a thin film or skin.
Even otherwise, the situation is nowhere near as bad as the iPhone 17’s “scratchgate” issue, whose rear glass is notoriously prone to picking up scratches.
Despite the risk of the back getting scratched, the Pixelsnap Ring Stand is one of the best Pixelsnap accessories to buy for the Pixel 10, especially for the XL model. Think of it as a magnetic pop-socket that snaps onto the back, letting you prop up the phone for video calls or binge-watching without a fuss.
