If you have the option, it’s always better to go with solutions like Android Auto in order to enhance your in-car entertainment experience. The app constantly gets updates, ensuring that you’re never going to have a dull moment, especially if you’re enrolled in the beta.

We recently saw that Google is potentially going to bring back dynamic album art backgrounds, and we’re now also seeing a report from 9to5Google that the music widget is having some issues of its own, making it harder to see the text, thanks to a bug that enables light mode.

An annoying problem with an easy fix

The reports are coming in from all across the internet, with various users chiming in on Reddit as well. As far as what users are seeing, text appears to be washed out, making it extremely hard to read, which can be a huge problem when the UI is made to be seen at a glance while you’re driving on the road.

Some on Reddit are sharing that this is occurring because the light mode is being enabled by default, which puts a light background with white text. There are also possible ways to get around it, like enabling night mode with the headlights on. Of course, if you’re not looking to mess around with all of that, you can always just revert to the normal version of the app from the beta.

You can do this by heading to the Google Play Store and unenrolling from the beta. Another way to fix this issue is to uninstall any recent updates that might have been applied to the app. This should help with the issue. With that said, you’ll need to ensure that automatic updates are disabled, so you don’t run into the same issue once you connect online.

While both solutions will work, we think opting out of the beta is the easier way. Of course, if you’re someone that runs Android Auto, you’ll know that problems like this aren’t new at all. Just browsing the Android Auto subreddit shows just how many problems people have every single day with the software.

It’s one of those things that’s really good when it works, but other times you’re left with a lot of frustration. Of course, it is a system that’s meant to work across a variety of different devices, which makes the experience less than ideal in some scenarios.
