The Google Pixel 10 lineup features some of the best phones the brand has ever produced. Google has traveled a long road to get here, with the first Pixel phone making its debut nearly a decade ago. And while the brand’s latest phones are seeing success, it’s important to highlight that the Pixel phone is more importantly seeing renewed interest from consumers.
A new report from Counterpoint Research shares data about the premium smartphone market, with Google making huge strides here with a 105% YoY change in sales (via 9to5Google). While this is great news, it shouldn’t be surprising, considering the brand saw impressive sales of its phones over the past year, allowing it to overtake another major brand for the 4th overall spot in the US.
It’s impressive, but Google still has a long way to go
Now, while this change is huge, it’s important to note that Google might be moving tons of volume here, which is why this jump is so high when compared to other brands on the list. When it comes to the overall sales in the segment, the results are pretty good, with global sales of premium smartphones increasing by 8% from the previous year.
Counterpoint Research states that this is the “highest-ever mark” for the first half of a year that it has ever seen, which means more people are looking for premium phones. Of course, Google isn’t the only one seeing growth this year, with brands like Apple, Samsung, Huawei and Xiaomi also seeing considerable changes.
It’s important to note that this data features global numbers, which is important considering that Google doesn’t really have a great presence outside the US. The brand has done its best to get the Pixel into more hands by streamlining its lineup, providing a phone for nearly every budget, while also delivering impressive software features that you can’t find on other phones.
With that said, Google is just starting to hit its stride, which means that the competition can only get fiercer as time progresses. Samsung has reigned over the Android segment for some time now, and while it was coasting for a few years, it seems to have brought back some of its previous fire with the release of the Galaxy Z Fold 7, and the upcoming and unannounced tri-fold phone.
Regardless, this is good news for Google and its fans, because with these kinds of results, you can bet that Google’s going to double down on its phones, and continue making the best products that it can.
