Everybody with a calendar filled with blue blocks has dreamed of a Google Meet outage freeing up their day and that day was today, though the respite was brief.

At 1:49 pm ET, a post to the Google Workspace Status dashboard said that Google was investigating reports of Google Meet service outages. Downdetector reflected the outage with a spike starting at 1:10 pm ET which has since tapered off.

The news was met with a certain amount of glee on social media.

Unfortunately for those celebrating, they can get back to work or at least sitting in meetings. Google reported that the issue was resolved at 2:18 pm ET, and attributed it to “a recent change in content edge cache.” Google said its engineers rolled back the change to end the outage.
