The Made by Google event is set to take place next week, which means a lot of information about what will be at the event is finding its way online in the form of leaks and rumors. Naturally, folks are curious about what Google has cooking when it comes to its phones, and the Pixel 10 Pro Fold is going to be one of the standouts of the event.

We’ve seen some official renders, and there have even been some short teaser clips, but these latest leaks give us some more valuable information about the phone, with a full run down of the specifications from WinFuture, with 9to5Google highlighting the increased durability of the handset, along with improvements to the internal storage.

Coming soon…

Although there are a lot of details to dive through, it’s the new IP68 rating that really catches the eye when looking through the specifications of the phone. This is extremely important because, while this rating is pretty common on slab phones, it’s not something we’ve seen before with foldable phones released in the US.

We’ve been hearing about this possibility for some time now, but this IP rating could really enhance the way foldables are used, allowing users to take them to places where they never dreamed before, without the fear of the phone falling apart. That last part might be a little overdramatic, but foldables have been known to be quite fragile, so the IP68 rating could become a real tipping point for the category.

The next big surprise is that the Pixel 10 Pro Fold could use UFS 4.0 storage. This is something that has been missing from Google phones for quite some time, and something we highlighted in our breakdown of the Pixel 9 too. The move to UFS 4.0 could bring better transfer speeds, along with improved efficiencies.

Of course, we’ve done a deep dive into this as well, and the truth is that while we love the change, it might not really even matter. Google could also up the warranty for its latest foldable to two years, if the information from WinFuture is correct. This could be a huge year for Google, and it needs to be, especially with Samsung hitting it out of the park with its Galaxy Z Fold 7.

The Made by Google event will take place on August 20. And while the Pixel 10 series phones will be the main attraction, we’ve been hearing that Google will also debut a new Pixel Watch, along with a new set of Pixel Buds as well. Naturally, there’s also going to be a ton of software features that will be unveiled as well. Luckily, there’s not much longer to wait to find out what Google has in store.
