The Pixel 9 Pro Fold features all the bells and whistles of its predecessor, alongside a more durable hinge that lets it sit flat, seven years of OS updates for the foldable (up from three), and all the AI smarts you could ask for.
The Made by Google event is set to take place next week on August 20, which means new Pixel phones are just around the corner. While many will have their eyes on what’s new, it’s also a great time to scoop some of the previous generation offerings, thanks to steep discounts. If you’ve been thinking about buying a new Pixel foldable phone, now’s going to be a great time, with Best Buy and Amazon both reducing the price of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold by $500.
What’s great about the Pixel 9 Pro Fold?
Foldables have come a long way. And they’re actually reaching a tipping point now thanks to new technologies making them just as thin as slab phones. The internals are good, the durability is high, and well, if you can find them on sale, the prices are just right. At $1,799, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold isn’t an easy purchase, but at $1,299, it’s much more manageable.
In our review, we loved the design and how thin it was. It also has a fantastic display, and the software is pretty good too. It’s going to be the only foldable to consider if you’re looking to get the Pixel experience in this format. Sure you can go with the older Pixel Fold, but that device just doesn’t really deliver when it comes to the hardware. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is just in another league when compared.
When it comes to the hardware, you’re getting a powerful Google Tensor G4 chip, 16GB of RAM, and 256GB of internal storage. There’s an 8-inch screen on the inside, and a 6.3-inch screen on the outside. You get a trio of cameras in the rear, with a 48MP main, 10MP ultrawide, and 10MP telephoto. There’s also a 10MP front-facing camera as well.
Naturally, you get all the usual Pixel goodness here on the software side, along with an impressive span of updates that will keep the phone fresh for years to come. With that said, Google hasn’t quite perfected the software on its foldables, but the experience can only get better from here with each update. You really won’t find better at this price, so pick one up from Best Buy or Amazon while you can.
