There aren’t many popular messaging apps for RCS (Rich Communication Services) other than Google Messages, and the fact that it’s pre-installed on almost all Android phones works in its favour, too. Whether it deserves to be this popular may be debatable, but Google is hard at work improving the application with new features and enhancements every few months. The good part about Google Messages, and many of the company’s Android apps, is that we get early glimpses of features the Mountain View tech giant is working on.
The latest such feature is related to RCS messaging. As revealed in Android Authority‘s APK teardown, Google is currently working on a new feature for the Messages app to help users quickly fix issues that appear while connecting or verifying RCS chats during registration. And the way it wants to do it is rather simple.
Google Messages may soon get a new button to quickly fix RCS issues
Folks over at Android Authority have found a new “Details” button in the RCS chat settings in Google Messages version ‘messages.android_20250713_01_RC00.phone.openbeta_dynamic.’ It appears only during registration, and when tapped, you see a pop-up containing all the key information like “Status code,” “Status details,” “Carrier,” “Device ID,” and more, which, in turn, is crucial for the Google support team to fix whatever issues you’re having.

Google typically asks for all this information whenever you report an issue related to RCS in Google Messages, but the new Details button feels like a rescue tool for those who struggle to gather and share that data with the support team. You don’t have to manually check for those critical pieces of information when the button becomes available in the app.
The pop-up also includes a “Submit feedback” button at the bottom, so you can tap on it to reach out to the support team directly and report the issues in more detail if you wish to. However, the Details button is in an early stage of development, and there is no guarantee that it’ll make it to a public release in the future. Either way, this couldn’t have come at a better time since Google is also encouraging more people to try RCS in Google Messages.
