Normally, whenever you tap on the record button in the Voice Memos app on your iPhone, the app instantly begins recording whatever sound the microphone picks up, be it someone’s voice or something else.
With no safeguards in place, it’s all too easy to initiate a voice recording in the Voice Memos app, even if you didn’t mean to. That’s why iOS developer CydiaGeek has just released a new and free jailbreak tweak called RecordConfirm.
Upon installing RecordConfirm, users of the tweak will receive a confirmation prompt like the one illustrated above whenever they tap on the record button in the Voice Memos app. The prompt not only shows the date and time when the Voice Memos recording request was initiated, but it gives the users two options: Cancel or Start.
Another small detail that we liked: a small touch of haptic feedback on supported devices when the prompt appears.
If you tap on the Cancel button, then it’s as if nothing ever happened and a voice recording doesn’t start. But if you tap on the Start button, then it’s the same as if you’ve tapped on the record button without the tweak installed – the recording begins.
With no options to configure, this no-nonsense jailbreak tweak can help prevent you from accidentally recording conversations you didn’t mean to record, and it can also protect your privacy in that respect.
Those wanting to give the new RecordConfirm jailbreak tweak a try can download it for free from the BigBoss repository via their favorite package manager app. The tweak supports jailbroken iOS 13, 14, 15 and 16 devices.
