The Pixel 9 is Google’s most affordable 2024 flagship, making a few compromises when compared to the Pixel 9 Pro and Pro XL while retaining the Google smarts the lineup has become known for. An upgraded 48MP ultra-wide camera is paired with a 50MP main shooter, and the selfie cam added autofocus. All of this comes with new Gemini AI features and a 2,700-nit Actua display for exceptional value at its price point.

If you’ve read any of my coverage here at AP, you are probably aware that I’m not the biggest fan of Google. When I say that my favorite smartphone to date is my current device, the Google Pixel 9, I absolutely mean it and am not saying so as some kind of fanboy.

I’m incredibly nitpicky when it comes to my electronics, and yet Google absolutely hit it out of the park when designing the Pixel 9. It’s the culmination of Google’s efforts with the Pixel line, and it shows with a heavy dose of polish.

I can’t find any faults with the device. It’s near perfect in my opinion, and even our review agrees, there’s little reason to opt for the Pro.

Which brings me to why I’m writing this deal post. Thanks to Prime Day, you can shave $250 off the $800 retail price, bringing the cost down to $549. That’s quite a bargain for what I consider the best Pixel yet.

What’s great about the Google Pixel 9

It’s the best smartphone from Google yet

The refined design is what immediately jumped out at me when I purchased a Pixel 9 at release (at full price, no less).

It’s a simple design, with a glass front and back and a smooth, slightly rounded metal frame holding it all together. It’s a pleasure to hold, at just the right size that it’s not too big or too small, it’s my Goldilocks phone.

If you’re getting a Pixel, you are likely interested in some of its exclusive features, like Magic Editor and Magic Eraser, not to mention Call Screen, which is an absolute hoot to use against spam calls, fighting bots with a bot, getting meta with it.

Let’s not forget the camera, which has seen AI improvements to ensure some of the best photos possible with a smartphone. Even the Tensor chip is no slouch with the Pixel 9, ensuring you can both game and conduct business with no worry of slowdowns.

Seriously, I’m skipping the Pixel 10 this year simply because my Pixel 9 is still hitting it out of the park, especially when the 10 looks exactly like the 9.

If you’ve been holding out on picking up a Pixel 9 but were waiting for a worthwhile discount, this Prime Day deal is the perfect time to make the jump, when you can pick up a Pixel 9 for $549.

The price has never been better, but make sure to act fast while supplies last. There’s no telling how long this killer deal will last.
