The Pixel 9 Pro XL has a new name, but it fills the same slot as 2023’s Pixel 8 Pro, having similar specs with roughly the same footprint. The non-XL Pixel 9 Pro is new to the lineup as a smaller premium flagship offering. With the 9 Pro XL, however, you get Google’s fastest charging, a bigger screen and battery, and all of the camera and Gemini AI smarts you’d get in the smaller 9 Pro.

Amazon Prime Day is an excellent opportunity to save on the smartphone you’ve been eyeing all year. Thankfully, this year is no exception, and when Prime Day kicks off on Tuesday, July 8th, 2025, you’ll want to have your wallet ready. The Google Pixel 9 Pro XL, with an MSRP of $1,100, can be purchased during the Amazon Prime Day event for only $750 — an over 30% savings, but just for the Hazel model.

Although the Google Pixel 10 series is just around the corner, the Pixel 9 Pro XL remains an outstanding smartphone with smooth performance and six years of software support remaining. If you’ve been waiting for the best time to buy, this Prime Day deal is a fantastic chance to score a top-tier flagship smartphone for a significant amount off its initial price.

Why you should buy a Google Pixel 9 Pro XL

I continue to be impressed by the Pixel 9 Pro XL, even a year later. Google has gotten so many things right, and it’s refreshing to see the company continue to release solid hardware and reliable software — something I couldn’t have said just a few years ago. With the Pixel 9 Pro XL, it starts with the display. I love its 6.8-inch Super Actua QHD+ panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. It’s perfect for watching movies or playing games, and it’s one of the best screens Google has put on a phone.

The Tensor G4 chipset may not benchmark as well as the Snapdragon 8 Elite found in other flagships, but I’ve never felt limited by its performance. Daily tasks are handled with ease, and the Pixel 9 Pro XL is consistently one of the smoothest Android experiences I’ve had in the last year.

I’ve gotten excellent battery life, often two days of use on a single charge from its 5,060mAh cell. And let’s not forget about the camera. If you’re a smartphone shutterbug, the Pixel 9 Pro XL should be at the top of your list. I get excellent telephoto images, and for point-and-shoot photos, it’s hard to beat the clarity and contrast you get from a Pixel.

It also wouldn’t be a Pixel without Google’s software. While Android 16 hasn’t been a huge update so far, I’m looking forward to the design changes later this year with Material 3 Expressive. And since Google promised seven years of software support on the Pixel 9 Pro XL, you can look forward to many more Android upgrades. If you want a premium smartphone experience without the premium price, Prime Day is an excellent opportunity to score a Pixel 9 Pro XL for less.
