I’m guilty of it as much as anyone else. I’ll promise myself I won’t buy anything on Prime Day, and definitely not another Amazon product. I own enough Fire HD tablets to build a shed, so I wouldn’t consider picking up another one.
However, I’m a tech enthusiast, and I’m drawn to a good bargain like a moth to a flame.
Amazon is making it tough to resist again this year with a phenomenal Prime Day sale on its Fire HD 10 tablet. When I reviewed the latest Amazon Fire HD 10, it was an excellent value for $140, but it becomes a no-brainer for only $70.
If you’re like me, with a closet full of Prime Day purchases from years past, here’s why you need to suit up one more time and pick up another Amazon Fire HD 10 on Prime Day.
The Amazon Fire HD 10 is a nifty productivity tool
Amazon has done its homework
I used to relegate Amazon Fire tablets to media consumption duties. They made fantastic little Netflix tablets, and I could easily binge-watch shows or stream content on Twitch.
That’s not a knock. It’s exactly what I bought them for, and I was pleased with the experience, considering the discounted price I usually paid.
However, when I reviewed the most recent Amazon Fire HD 10, I noticed significantly improved performance.
The Silk Browser experience was smoother, and I considered the Fire HD 10 a productivity tablet for the first time. Split-screen multitasking wasn’t a disaster, and I could open my email with my calendar or Microsoft Office without the Fire HD 10 becoming a laggy mess.
If you add a Bluetooth keyboard case, the Fire HD 10 becomes an ideal companion for the office and classroom, and it is significantly cheaper than the competition.
Yes, its screen is still solid, and its battery life makes it perfect for binge-watching your favorite show, but you should consider other uses.
An Echo Show is more useful than you think
You could put one in every room for this price
Echo Show mode is one of the most underrated features of the Fire HD 10. Its wide 10.1-inch display makes it an excellent choice for the kitchen, allowing you to look up recipes hands-free while you make a mess of the ingredients. You can also start your favorite Spotify playlist or pull up a video for tips.
A Fire HD 10 can be used to pull up Ring or Blink cams, allowing you to check on who is at your front door or whether your next Prime Day package has arrived.
There are uses for the Fire HD 10 in Show Mode outside the kitchen. You can use your tablet as a picture frame, rotating through cherished memories. You can also place one in your bedroom, allowing Show Mode to display the weather or upcoming events on your calendar.
It’s not difficult to find additional uses that make the Fire HD 10 worth it, especially if you only have to shell out $70 to get one on Prime Day.
A smart home assistant in every room
Use a Fire HD 10 as a smart home hub
Smart homes can be confusing and expensive. Prime Day is an excellent opportunity to save money and add modern conveniences to your home.
As long as what you buy is compatible with Alexa, you can use a Fire HD 10 to control your smart home. You can walk into a room and trigger multiple routines through Alexa, such as turning on lights or adjusting your thermostat to your preferred settings.
A Fire HD 10 can be used to pull up Ring or Blink cams, allowing you to see who is at your front door or whether your next Prime Day package has arrived. Mount a Fire HD 10 in several rooms to have it display to-do and shopping lists.
The more you think about its different uses, the easier it is to build up the $70 in value to justify buying one.
You don’t think you need another one, but maybe you do
In previous years, I may not have recommended picking up yet another Amazon Fire HD 10 tablet, no matter how inexpensive it was.
However, if you don’t have the latest generation or maybe want one for another room for the reasons I’ve mentioned, it’s hard to pass up a capable budget tablet for only $70.
It’s not perfect, and there are still plenty of performance limitations. However, the Fire HD 10 punches well above its weight, and it’s a no-brainer for 50% off.
