One of the exciting features to ship in the iOS 18 Calculator app was the ability to convert between different units of measure and currencies from around the world.
While those on older firmware have long been able to download third-party apps from the App Store to achieve the same goal, iOS developer fiore has just released a new and free jailbreak tweak known as CalculatorConverter that backports this feature to pwned handsets running iOS 14, 15, and 16.
Once installed, users can tap on a conversion button in the top-right of the Calculator app to invoke the conversion interface. While this is different from tapping on the Calculator button in the bottom-left of the Calculator app in iOS 18, the result is that it opens the same type of conversion interface as what’s seen in iOS 18.
Fiore’s backporting of the conversion features in the Calculator app is a near carbon copy of what we’d see in iOS 18. In fact, comparing the tweak on iOS 16 on our iPhone 13 side-by-side with iOS 18 on our iPhone 16 Pro Max, we can’t even tell any significant differences between the two devices. Flawless, if we do say so ourselves.
Upon tapping on the up and down arrows to the right of the active unit or currency in the Calculator app, we’re brought to a list of available units and currencies. We can tap on pre-sorted lists or use the search bar to find exactly what we’re looking for to perform a conversion.
To close the conversion interface, users can simply tap on the ‘X’ button in the same place where they found the conversion button in the top-right of the Calculator app initially.
CalculatorConverter doesn’t come with any options to configure, so when you install it, it gets to work immediately. The tweak supports jailbroken iOS 14, 15, and 16 devices and comes with a strong recommendation from us considering it does such a fine job of backporting a seriously useful feature from a newer firmware to older firmware.
