This year, we’re expecting a bit more than usual from Samsung’s summer Unpacked event. In addition to new clamshell and book-style foldables, rumors say a more affordable Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE and a cutting-edge Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Ultra could join the fun. And on the smartwatch side of things, there should be not two but three new Galaxy Watch models this time around.
Now, the Unpacked event itself has gone official, and you can already reserve your new Galaxy gear for a nice bonus.
Samsung has sent out invitations to the event, which is now officially scheduled to take place on Wednesday, July 9 in Brooklyn, New York. If you weren’t invited to the in-person show, you can watch it live on Samsung’s website, Samsung Newsroom, and the company’s YouTube page. This Unpacked event will kick off at 10:00 a.m. ET (7:00 a.m. PT).
In the teaser video Samsung sent out with this invite, we see the silhouettes of two stunningly-thin foldables — this aligns with previous leaks and a dummy unit that looked considerably thinner than last year’s Fold 6 in a hands-on video.
The video’s tagline of “Ultra Unfolds” lends credence to the Galaxy Fold Ultra rumors we’ve heard in recent months, though some reputable leakers have suggested that this is merely a marketing term for the ultra-thin Fold 7. In an official teaser two weeks ago, Samsung alluded to the “Next chapter of Ultra,” but it stopped short of confirming that an Ultra-branded phone would be unveiled at Unpacked.

Just like the last few Unpacked events, Samsung is using today’s date announcement as a chance to kick off pre-registrations for its next flagships. There’s still no official mention of a Fold Ultra or Flip SE, but if you register to purchase a Galaxy Z Flip 7 or Galaxy Z Fold 7, you can secure a $50 Samsung credit and earn triple Samsung reward points with your preorder purchase. To sweeten the pot, Samsung will opt you into a $5,000 sweepstakes when you register, but only one person will win this cash.

The wait is almost over — Samsung will unveil its next generation of foldables and smartwatches on July 9th at 10:00 a.m. ET. And starting today, you can reserve a Galaxy Z Flip or Fold 7 to get a $50 Samsung credit, earn triple reward points, and be entered into a $5,000 sweepstakes.
There’s one important caveat with that $50 pre-registration credit: You can’t apply it towards the purchase of your new foldable. Instead, it is limited to “ecosystem purchases,” but this does mean you can use it to buy cases and accessories for your new phone.
