iPad Features XII ports some of the iPad’s best UI differences to the iPhone

iOS powers both Apple’s iPhone and iPad platforms; however, each
handset exhibits unique software-centric features that have been tailored to
the devices’ particular hardware specifications.

Anyone that has used both devices knows exactly what we mean – subtle differences in interfaces such as the App Switcher, Camera app, Dock, and Status Bar are evident right off the bat. But with a new free jailbreak tweak called iPad Features XII by iOS developer Adel Hammoud, you can port many of those differences over to your iPhone.

As shown in the screenshot examples above, iPad Features XII
provides iPhone and iPod touch users with each of the following features:

  • Sideways-oriented Camera app controls that replace the stock vertical camera controls
  • A grid-centric App Switcher interface that replaces the native card-based App Switcher
  • A more comprehensive Status Bar with additional information on the left side
  • A better, more multitasking-friendly Dock

iPad Features XII adds a preference pane to the Settings app
where you can configure the tweak to your liking:

Here, you can:

  • Toggle the iPad’s Status Bar style on or off
  • Toggle the iPad’s grid-centric App Switcher on or off
  • Toggle the iPad’s Camera app interface on or off
  • Toggle the iPad’s Dock style on or off

The developer includes a Respring button at the bottom of
the preference pane that you can use to save any changes you make.

Depending on how desperate you are to make your iPhone behave more like an iPad, the new iPad Features XII tweak might be worth your while. If you’re interested in trying iPad Features XII, then you can download it for free from Cydia’s BigBoss repository. The tweak only supports jailbroken iOS 12 devices at the time of this writing.

Do you prefer the iPhone in its native form, or do you lean
more toward the iPad’s UI in certain circumstances? Share your thoughts in the
