Speedster makes Home Screen interactions faster by speeding up or removing certain animations

If you’re such a fast-paced person that the fluid Home Screen-centric animations of iOS feel a bit like molasses, then a new and free jailbreak tweak called Speedster by iOS developer Hoangdus can probably help you feel more at ease.

Don’t you wish your iPhone galloped at the speed of all the ponies in this Formula 1 race car?Don’t you wish your iPhone galloped at the speed of all the ponies in this Formula 1 race car?

This simple jailbreak tweak gives users the option to speed up Home Screen animations well beyond the native duration or disable unwanted ones, as you’re about to find out.

Once installed, Speedster adds a dedicated preference pane to the Settings app where users can configure a variety of speed and animation-related options to their liking:

Among the things you can do here are:

  • Enable or disable app launching speed adjustments
  • Choose between five different app launching speed settings
  • Enable or disable app bounce speed adjustments

  • Enable or disable a custom screen sleep animation speed
  • Adjust the screen sleep animation speed via a slider
  • Enable or disable a custom screen wake animation speed

  • Disable app icon fly-in animation when unlocking your device
  • Disable app icon jitter when editing the Home Screen
  • Disable app icon zoom effects in the App Switcher
  • Disable wallpaper zoom effects in the App Switcher
  • Respring your device to save all changes

According to the developer in the tweak’s /r/jailbreak release post, it’s possible to pair Speedster with the FakeClockUp jailbreak tweak if you fancy faster animations throughout the operating system.

If you’re interested in giving Speedster a try, then you’ll be happy to know it’s available as a free download from Hoangdus’ repository via your favorite package manager app. The tweak currently supports jailbroken iOS 13, 14, 15, and 16 devices and is open source on the developer’s GitHub page for anyone interested in learning more about how the tweak works.

If you’re not already using Hoangdus’ repository, then you can add it to your package manager app of choice by using the URL provided below:
