If you watch any ordinary video in the YouTube app, then a progress bar appears at the bottom of the video player to display your progress in the video in real time. For some reason, the same isn’t true about YouTube Shorts.

iOS developer PoomSmart set out to change that with the release of a free jailbreak tweak called YTShortsProgress that adds the missing progress bar to Shorts when played via the YouTube app.
In the before (left) and after (right) screenshot examples depicted above, you can see just how native the Shorts progress bar provided by YTShortsProgress looks. In fact, it doesn’t even look like it was enabled by a jailbreak tweak.
The added convenience of the progress bar means you can estimate how long the Shorts clip will be and have a point of reference pertaining to where you are in the video as you watch it; no more being in the dark regarding this information.
If you frequent the YouTube app, or more specifically the Shorts feature therein, then you should consider giving the new YTShortsProgress tweak a try. It’s available as a free download from PoomSmart’s personal repository and supports jailbroken iOS 14 devices with the latest version of the YouTube app, which at the time of this writing is 17.38.9.
