Tesla app finally lets you view dashcam recordings on Android

While many manufacturers have caught up over the past years, Tesla still makes one of the most advanced automobiles on the road. Not only do you get an impressive in-car experience, but it’s also completely custom, not relying on popular options like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Perhaps one of the best safety features on the car is being able to watch clips that are recorded when the vehicle is engaged in Sentry Mode. If a threat is detected, the Tesla will work its magic to prevent things from escalating using visual and audio warnings. But the most important thing it can do is record what’s happening so that you can see what’s going on.

Android users can finally access clips remotely

Previously, you could only watch these recordings remotely using an iOS device. But now, with a recent update to version 4.43.5, Android users will now also be able to watch recorded clips using their devices as well. The news comes from Artem Russakovskii, sharing on X, what the UI looks like and how it can be downloaded from APKMirror.

For most, it should just be a simple update that can be done from the Google Play Store, but if you can’t get it to work, or the update isn’t available, you can always use APKMirror to download the latest version to your phone. Once you have the latest version of the app, Russakovskii suggests heading into the Security & Drivers section in order to access the recorded clips.

For the most part, we’ve seen Android apps take a backseat plenty of times, with iOS products taking priority when it comes to development. And while the Tesla app is built using React Native, not all parts of the apps are universal, and instead require a little extra work to make things function.

So there’s a pretty good chance that features like this will continue to come at a later date on Android, which isn’t a big deal, unless you’re eagerly waiting to get the latest and greatest.
